Hey Buddy, Want To Buy A Watch?

Don’t get sold a bill of goods just because the price sounds good.

A potential client just emailed me to give me the proposal she received from an SEO firm and along with that proposal was their portfolio. Now, they stated quite clearly and in no uncertain terms that they create “100% validated websites”. So, when I reviewed 10 of the websites in their portfolio, I found that none of them were 100% validated, not even close.

So, why bother even making this statement? I guess they figured no one would check. Who knows!

Their prices for set up was great, about $5000.00 for a 200 page website with a shopping cart. Their monthly marketing for this website though was on the high end, $2500.00 a month.

My potential client wanted to know if she could pay this company to design the website and then pay me to market the website (my fees are 95.00/month). I politely said no. Why? Because the site was not coming to me optimized and it would cost her to have me optimize it. So, was she getting a great deal? Hardly. It would be cheaper for her to have the website created correctly from the beginning.

I understand everyone is looking to do what they need to do for less. But, be careful what you’re buying. You just might end up with a really bad Rolex knockoff.
