Another meaning of this value is if more percentage of sale is by the product owner is then that online marketer will be reputable. Also he might be having big list. Another product check is how long is that product for sale. You can get this value from click bank. If the product is on sale for long time, chances are that, market for that product saturated. Also you can list product on their popularity. Any product within 20 ranks will be ideal. Top ranked product will be more competitive. Better avoid for a new affiliate.

Did You Know Your Web Name Can Be Snatched Up?


Believe it or not, even thieves are already high-tech these days. Browsing the web and reading through online forums, I came across a startling story about how thieves have found their way to infiltrate the world wide web. I read about a lady who was planning to put up a web page of her own. As the normal process dictates, she first thought of a domain name for her website. She chose her own name and had it checked in CNet Domain Search page for domain registrations and found out that it is very much available. A couple of days later, she checked it again and was shocked to discover that her name is already taken. She found out that her name is already a domain name registered to a firm with the name Chesterton Holdings.

The helpless lady brought the matter to the attention of Larry Seltzer, a columnist of eweek.com and a staunch critic of cyber crimes. Larry Seltzer investigated the matter himself. He checked the website whose domain name is that of the lady’s. He immediately came to a conclusion that firm who “owns” the website and its domain name is a domain squatter, one among many domain squatters scattered all over the internet. Seltzer saw that the website is full of advertisements all domain squatters are associated with. He even claimed that the advertisements were syndicated through information.com. In Seltzer’s column in eweek.com, he followed the next events regarding the theft of the lady’s domain name. He reported that after a number of days, Chesterton, the bogus owner, has already let go of the stolen domain. He said this could have been prompted by the low hits or very few visits the site had. Apparently, silly domain squatters do not stay long in a domain, which is not lucrative for them. Squatters are somehow wise, at least in that sense.

The question that was immediately formed in my mind that Mr. Seltzer also posted, is how in the world was Chesterton able to register someone else’s name to be its domain name? Moreover, why was the squatter allowed or given the permission to have ownership of a domain that is obviously not theirs? Anyway, I think my questions are unanswerable as of the moment. Even big companies and other established domain owners cannot exactly explain how domain theft is being successfully done. I bet you have also heard of the stealing of panex.com’s domain. Well, if you have not, the bottom line is that even the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), whose mandate is to police the world wide web, failed to fully account the culprit behind the theft.

Curious about how rampant domain theft is, I made a little cyber investigation and probed on my own. I logged on to search.com, a property of CNet domain, and searched for the availability of my own name. I guess you’ve already guessed the result. Yes, my own name is already a registered domain name. With whom is it registered? Bingo! It is with Chesterton Holdings. My possible domain is already stolen. But I am confident the squatter will leave sooner than I think. My name is unpopular nor does it sound good to generate thousands of hits and visits. There is no way that notorious domain thief can make profit out of my unpopular name.

Though my stolen (domain) name is not much of a big fuss for me or for others, domain theft is a serious problem for other web owners. It is alarming that theft incidence can happen so easily and victims cannot do anything to account for the theft done.
Who is behind this syndicated theft? I do not think we can answer right now. Who is to be blamed for the proliferation of cyber thieves? We can go on pointing fingers but still not quell domain theft. I guess the only question we can answer as of now is who is already registered in a particular domain and who is not — thanks to whois, a *querying database*. Whois is a transmission control protocol(TCP)-based query or a response protocol. It is utilized to identify the owner of a domain name, an IP address, or an autonomous system number on the internet. But then, it is also very probable that domain squatters are using whois to know which domain, in the form of people’s real names, can they squat in.

Domain theft is really a complex and alarming matter. This issue is a concern for current domain owners but more so to those planning to put up a website. This issue is most especially pertinent to those who are planning to put up an online business and use a website for marketing. When you have your website uploaded and running, you might be thinking the big job is over. In fact the big task is going to start now, promoting your website and generating traffic. More traffic means more sales and more money.

Try getting back links from authority sites in your niche. One way links means vote of acceptance. When some authority site accepts you, you got high rankings in search engine eyes. Reciprocal link exchange also gives some benefit, though not as good as one way links.

If possible add a blog to your site. Once you start adding contents, search engines will definitely index your site. Search engines like more and more fresh content. Also there are many ways to promote your blog postings and this will give more back links to your site. Social book marking is an example of blog promotion. Also try visiting forums in your niches and make some valuable comments and use your website link as your signature line. Before doing this make sure you read their rule and it is allowed to do that. SEO Business Strategies For New Economy


Well, stiumulus package or not, we’re all in for a very long haul in this economy.  President Obama is right when he reports that we will be measuring this recovery in years, not months.  So, brace yourselves!

But how?  How do we brace ourselves?  What can we do for our businesses and for our clients?  Well, I’m no genius, believe me but I can share my humble ideas with you.  I’d love to hear your ideas as well!

1) Be flexible – if your policy is to collect 50% at the beginning of a project and 50% at the end of the project (or whatever policy you currently have) – don’t turn down a client simply because they can’t meet that policy.  Be flexible.  Break it up into 3, 4, 5 or whatever payments are reasonable for you and your client.  In the long run, you’ll usually win.

2) Give a little more – now is not the time to cut back on your services.  Now is the time to add a little more.  What are your competitors doing?  Can you do that also?  Can you do a little more?  If a client is interviewing 3 SEO firms, they’re going to choose from a variety of factors but one of those factors will be the services the client can get for their money.  Give them the best bang for the buck.  You would want the same.

3) Become more visual – for many years SEO firms have worked in offices across the globe and been in contact with their clients via email and phone.  But in today’s economy, the outreach of a friendly smile, handshake, whatever can be the deal breaker.  So, put on your suit, put on your makeup and get yourself a video cam (if you don’t already have one) and encourage your clients to “see” you.  They don’t have to have a video cam to do that, just a program like Skype (which is free).  So, don’t be shy.

4) Encourage creativity – talk with your clients about new venues they can market.  Just yesterday I was talking with a firm that was in the business of mailing lists.  They recognize that they will have to eventually abandon that arena and move forward to email lists and other projects.  Help your clients to see where their businesses may be years from now.  SEO firms are great at seeking out trends – so share that information with your clients.  They’ll appreciate it more than you’ll ever know.

5) Group Discounts – if an individual business can’t afford your services, perhaps they can band together with one or 2 other similar businesses and you can offer them a discount.  Keyword research can be shared which would cut down the cost.  It’s not a perfect idea, but something like this may be viable.

New Online Productivity Program


You’ve heard me say it a zillion times, there are SO many new programs coming out almost every day – it’s difficult to keep up with all of them. But I do try!

One new program I found that seems to be really great is DorisApp.com – it’s a simple and streamlined ToDo task but with some extra features that made it more conducive for my needs. You see, many of the online ToDo task programs simply give you the ability to list your list of things to do. But I needed something that would allow me to group them, and DorisApp does just that.

Basically, you create a group, list your tasks under that group and you are given a number aligned with that group that shows you if you have any open tasks within that group. That works out great! I just open my DorisApp home page, and scan down the list to see what Groups I have work to do in. It’s great! And since it’s in Beta, the company is continuing to work on additional features for the site. Their blog lists the following Feature Requests that they are looking into…

  • OpenID signup
  • a friendly email reminder every morning at a time your choosing what will be on tap for today
  • ability to post things to Doris via DM from Twitter
  • synchonise with Microsoft Outlook tasks
  • synchonise with OS X tasks (Doris tasks would appear updated in Mail.app)
  • ability to convert an email into a task
  • ability to add TODOs by SMS

  • a desktop Doris widget
  • improve keyboard access
  • give choice to make profiles public, showing basic stats, ie number of items posted, etc
  • ask Doris to beat you up, and pester you about stuff that’s in “Today” for too long
  • consider using Google Gears or similar approach to making DORIS available OFFLINE
